Reps advise WHO against bias in vaccine trial and other #COVID-19 updates across Nigeria

The House of Representatives has enjoined the World Health Organisation (WHO) to guard against discriminatory practices in the search for a vaccine against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Chairman of the House Committee on Healthcare Services, Tanko Sununu, made the call when the new Country Representative of WHO, Dr. Walter Mulombo, visited him at the National Assembly complex, Abuja.

Sultan asks Muslim faithful not to congregate on Eid grounds for prayers

The Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, has asked district heads and religious leaders to lead Eid prayers in Juma’at mosques instead of Eid grounds.

The Kano government has ordered the suspension of Sallah festivities in the state.

Speaking with journalists Wednesday, after the council meeting held at the government house in the state capital, the Commissioner for Information, Muhammad Garba, said the decision was taken as part of efforts to consolidate on the success achieved in the fight against COVID-19.

How Nigerian states are faring in COVID-19 testing

The Nigerian government had on April 28 announced its target of testing at least two million people within the next three months.

813 Nigerians have died from COVID-19, says NCDC

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) Wednesday night, announced that the country has recorded 543 new cases of Coronavirus.

The centre, through its twitter handle, further revealed that there are so far 38,344 confirmed cases in Nigeria, with  15,815 patients discharged with 813 deaths recorded
