FG lifts ban on interstate travel, okays local flights and other #COVID19 updates across Nigeria

President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday, approved the lifting of restrictions on interstate travel effective tomorrow. He also extended the second phase of the relaxed lockdown by four weeks beginning Tuesday, June 30, 2020 to midnight of Monday, July 27, 2020. Though all schools will remain closed, arrangements would be made for graduating students in Primary 6, JS3 and SS3 to resume and prepare for examinations.

Chairman of the Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha and PTF Coordinator Sani Aliyu made the disclosure in Abuja, yesterday, during the daily briefing on the coronavirus pandemic.

Nigeria’s COVID-19 cases exceed 25,000

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced 566 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 25,133.

Eight deaths were recorded from the virus on Monday bringing the total number of confirmed deaths from the virus to 573.

Kogi finally sets up COVID-19 testing lab, Infectious Disease Centre

The Kogi government says it has partnered with the United States Centre for Diseases Control (CDC) to set up a reference molecular laboratory for COVID-19 tests.

Commissioner for Health, Saka Haruna, who broke the news in a statement on Monday, said the laboratory will be used to attend to residents with symptoms related to COVID-19.

Finance ministry receives PPE, face mask donations from Chinese firms

The China Great Wall Industry Corporation (CGWIC) and China General Chamber of Commerce (CGCC) have donated personal protective equipment (PPE) and face masks to the ministry of finance, budget and national planning.

The donation was announced in a statement signed by Yunusa Abdullahi, special adviser, media and communications to Zainab Ahmed, minister of finance, budget and national planning.
