‘Why Africa is least affected by deaths from COVID-19’

Latest figures from the World Health Organisation show that Africa has the least number of cases (58,663) and deaths with (1,710) compared to the Americas with the highest numbers of cases (1,966,932) and deaths (118,799).

This is closely followed by Europe with 1,874 075 cases and 166,121 deaths; Eastern Mediterranean with 326,568 cases 9,841 deaths; Western Pacific with 167,546 cases and 6,730 deaths; and South-East Asia with 134,531 cases and 4,351 deaths.

NCDC collaborates with global partners on testing challenges- Ihekweazu

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), says it will collaborate with global partners to tackle bottlenecks to its target on testing for the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in the country.

CBN, NNPC to spend N1bn on returnees quarantine

Returnees will no longer have to bear the expenses of their two-week quarantine as the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) have offered to foot the bills

The bills, estimated to be about N1billion will cover the hotel accommodation and feeding for 3,000 out of the 4,000 people being expected.

19 more workers in Oyo company test positive for COVID-19

Nineteen more members of staff of the same company in Ibadan South-West local government area are the latest COVID-19 cases in Oyo state.

The governor of Oyo, Seyi Makinde, confirmed this in a statement issued just after midnight on Monday.

On Saturday, the results for 30 co-workers came back positive, while eight more workers were confirmed positive on Sunday, and with the latest figure for Monday, 57 members of staff have now tested positive for the virus.
