International flights to resume soon and other #COVID-19 updates across Nigeria
Nigeria’s Federal Government has asked airlines operating in the country to begin process for the resumption of international flights.
International flights had been banned in March as parts of measures to check the spread of COVID-19.
But on Thursday, Sani Aliyu, national coordinator of the presidential task force on COVID-19, asked the aviation authorities and airline operators to begin the process for the resumption of international flights.
PTF says low COVID-19 tests responsible for declining cases
With over 10,000 recoveries confirmed in less than one week, the presidential task force (PTF) on COVID-19 says it is too early to celebrate because there has been reduced testing as a result of the Sallah break.
Chairman of the PTF and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, disclosed the reason for the plummet in the figure of new COVID-19 cases while speaking with journalists on Wednesday.
“If you noticed, as we celebrated those discharges, there’s also been a decrease in the testings. In the last couple of days we tested just barely 2,000 across the nation, but we have a testing capacity of much more thousands than 2,000,” he said.

Latest figures from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and the recent revelation of the cost of treating a COVID-19 patient by the Lagos government indicate that the country is spending hundreds of billions of naira in tackling the pandemic.

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, gave the assurance on Thursday at a meeting with the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) in Abuja.
