Kano accuses northern governors of politicking with COVID-19, almajiri
The Kano Government has cautioned Northern governors against playing politics with the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and future of almajiri children in the region.
Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, at a media briefing on COVID-19 in Kano, accused some of his colleagues in the region of embarking on political mischief, taking undue advantage of recent inter-state migration of almajiri in the North.
Insurers donate PPEs, others to drive fight against COVID-19 pandemic
Insurance firms have donated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) worth N15 millions to the Lagos and others in a move to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus pandemic in the country.
The underwriters’ intervention is considered the largest single donation by a corporate organisation in the country to address the spread of coronavirus since a foreigner tested positive last month in Lagos.
Bauchi governor imposes total lockdown on three LGs
Amidst increasing cases of COVID-19 in the state, the Bauchi Governor, Bala Mohammed Sunday, declared a 24 hours curfew in three local government areas bordering Kano.
The total curfew is expected to last for the next ten days.
Mohammed declared the total lockdown after Bauchi recorded 66 new cases of COVID-19 in less than 24 hours. A total of 44 of the cases were announced Saturday night by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) while the state government confirmed 22 new cases Sunday afternoon.
Ayade asks Buhari to lift ban on domestic flights
The governor of Cross River state, Ben Ayade has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to lift the ban on domestic flights.
He said lifting the ban is necessary as the economic loss being incurred is be too much for the country to bear.
Madagascar’s COVID-19 cure drugs sent to Nigeria
The Republic of Madagascar has offered its herbal drug – COVID Organics (COV) – to Nigeria and other African countries.
The drug is for prevention and cure of Coronavirus.
Nigeria’s consignment has been sent to Equatorial Guinea from where it will be airlifted to Abuja.
