‘Trado-medicine’ practitioners need to form formidable common ground’ + other COVID-19 updates across Nigeria
Practitioners of traditional medicine in Lagos have been called upon to unite so as to enhance and optimise their potentials.
The Chairman, Lagos State Traditional Medicine Board, Prof. Adebukola Oshintelu, who spoke on a live phone-in programme, tagged “Issues in the News”, emphasised the need for traditional medicine practitioners to form a common front like the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), so as to command deserved respect and recognition.
“We need to find a way of becoming one formidable body that will be able to reorganise traditional medicine while being able to get support and recognition in society”, she said.
Katsina residents insist governor release lockdown measures
Katsina’s Aminu Bello Masari is said to be under intense pressure by some sections of Katsina citizens to lift the lockdown measures to allow them move about freely.
Permanent Secretary, State Ministry of Health and member of the State’s COVID-19 Committee, Dr Kabir Mustapha who disclosed this in an interview with The Nation said the disposition of most Katsina citizens to the current COVID-19 fight, remains disappointing, adding that some are even thinking of staging riots should the lockdown continue.
Obiano asks citizens to prepare for more COVID-19 cases
Anambra’s Willie Obiano has told the people of the State to expect more positive cases of Coronavirus pandemic.
Obiano said, the only COVID-19 death recorded so far in the State, was a 66-year old man who did not report his ill-health on time.
“There is a possibility that his case would have been managed well if our Team had been alerted on time. I urge you to cooperate with our efforts to protect lives. People who hide their medical conditions run a high risk of dying from Covid-19. Please, let us bear this in mind,” he said.
Youth group reject Azoroh’s tests results
The Youths and Environmental Advocacy Centre (YEAC) has demanded a fresh test and investigation of how the manager of the demolished Prodest Hotel in Eleme, Rivers, Bariledum Azoroh, got infected with COVID-19.
Executive Director of YAEC, Fyneface Dumnamene, said rejection of Azoroh’s COVID-19 status became necessary because it was evident that from the beginning of the alleged violation of Executive Order Six, Azoroh’s fate had depended on the whims and caprices of the Rivers Government.
Gombe discharges 44 almajiri COVID-19 patients
Gombe Government has discharged another set of Almajiri children from the Amada quarantine camp having tested negative to the COVID-19.
The 44 children discharged yesterday were part of the batch of 64 children at the transit camp, with the remaining 20 children awaiting their test results later today.
