Oyo gives breakdown of ₦2.7bn spent and other #COVID19 updates across Nigeria

The Oyo government says it has so far spent ₦2.7 billion on palliatives, security and medical supplies as part of efforts to contain the COVID-19 pandemic in the state.

The Commissioner for Finance, Akinola Ojo made this known in a statement issued Tuesday.

Giving a breakdown of the figures, the commissioner said the amount was spent on setting up of treatment and isolation centres, procurement of palliatives and seedlings for a section of the residents and farmers, procurement of ambulances and the security of the state’s borders, among others.

Over 49 health officials get infected in Enugu

Shortly after the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH) unveiled a COVID-19 Testing Centre in Enugu, the state government yesterday confirmed 68 new cases of the virus.

It also disclosed that 49 of the cases so far recorded were health workers managing those who had contracted the virus in the state. State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Ikechukwu Obi, who confirmed the development, stated that the state now had 144 confirmed cases of which 110 were active, 29 discharged and five deaths recorded.

COVID-19 cases in Nigeria now 21,371

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has announced that the record for the COVID-19 cases in Nigeria has risen to 21,371, with 7,338 patients discharged and 533 deaths.

452 new cases were recorded on Tuesday night.

Kaduna assembly directs members to go for COVID-19 test

All members of the Kaduna House of Assembly have been directed to submit their samples for COVID-19 test.

All members of staff of the assembly have also been asked to ensure their samples are tested for the coronavirus.

Speaker of the House, Yusuf Zailani, gave the directive following the discovery of a COVID-19 case among the assembly staff last week.
