The National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) COVID-19 says a testing centre in Kano will resume operation Monday, today.

The minister of health, Osagie Ehanire disclosed this on Sunday during an interview on Channels television’s Sunday Politics which focused on the COVID-19 pandemic in Nigeria.

The testing centre should be back on stream Monday because the team has gone in there from NCDC. Most have arrived there today (Sunday). And they should be able to resume screening Monday,” Ehanire said.

FG’s rice palliative is causing friction

In an attempt to cushion the pains of lockdowns across the country due to COVID-19, the Federal Government had instructed the Nigeria Customs Service to distribute bags of rice to states. But the rejection of the commodity by the Oyo government on the grounds of poor quality has continued to stir political undercurrents.

Fresh facts emerged yesterday that only Oyo, and not all the South-West states, would return the allegedly contaminated bags.

Also, the Ondo government has rejected some “expired” bags of rice donated to the state by the federal government.

FG considers upward review of N500bn economic stimulus

The federal government is considering reviewing, upwards, the proposed N500 billion economic stimulus package meant to cushion the debilitating impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Besides, the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo-led Economic Sustainability Committee is also putting forward another proposal for a gradual relaxation of the current lockdown in the Federal Capital Territory, Lagos and Ogun States in order to ease economic activities grounded by efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.

We are stigmatised! – Asthma patients cry out

Asthma patients in Bauchi say they are being stigmatised as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic because of the occasional breathing difficulties they encounter.

Some of them told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Bauchi Sunday, that because ‘breathing difficulties’ is one of the important symptoms in determining a case of coronavirus prior to medical test, they were being mistaken for COVID-19 patients, particularly in public places.
