First COVID-19 Scare in Lagos | Government test result on Chinese Citizen

Social media was agog when a Chinese citizen presented himself at the Reddington Hospital in Ikeja, Lagos on suspicion of being infected with coronavirus with speculations confirming it the first COVID-19 case in Nigeria.
The Lagos state government commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, however, denounced the speculations with reports that the Chinese citizen was tested negative.
Government addresses fake news:
The first COVID-19 scare in Lagos came with its ugliness, the exchange of fake, unverifiable news on social media. The state government of Lagos through its health commissioner appealed to citizens to refrain from posting fake news that could cause anxiety and urged them to turn to the government the Ministry of Health.
